Hot and steamy... and humid. Hua Hin District is a district of Prachuap Khiri Khan Province in the northern area of the Malay Peninsula in Thailand. The area is a beach resort town, frequented by locals and tourists from all over the world. The town is not particularly gay, especially because Asian culture is more discreet about homosexuality, but there are a handful of gay locals and gay nightlife. In this article, we'll tell you about Gay Life, Gay Bars, and Gay things to do in Hua Hin.
Gay Life in Hua Hin
Hua Hin's gay scene and community are close to non-existent. Living as homosexual here is a struggle and many need to stay in the closet to avoid discrimination and hate in their personal and professional lives. However, the ladyboy culture is very prevalent and not only accepted in the city, but also in the entire country.
As a gay tourist, it is unlikely that you would run into any problems, especially because the town is heavily dependent on tourism. However, it will be very hard to find gay locals due to the limited familial attitude. There aren't exactly any gay nightlife areas or areas in general to meet up, but there are online platforms that are much more active due to the ability to be anonymous. The most common ones in Hua Hin and the rest of Vietnam are Zing's 2!LOVER mobile app and Blued, a Chinese app that has taken over the Eastern Hemisphere.
Why an ocean-front resort in Hua Hin is the perfect host for your gay holidays there!
Picking the perfect hotel in Hua Hin is pretty difficult as the area features many gorgeous, luxury hotels and resorts. However, very few of them boast the friendly atmosphere of Movenpick Asara Resort & Spa. This hotel is truly an exceptional option for gay holidays, standing out for its beautiful oceanfront location, spacious suites and villas, delicious food options, and stunning swimming pool overlooking the ocean.
Either you are visiting with your family, friends, other half, or alone, your experience at this hotel will be luxurious and relaxing. Starting from the rooms, we highly recommend you choosing a room or villa that overlooks the ocean. The soft breeze of the ocean combined with the crushing sound of the waves is truly calming.
Of course, that doesn't mean that the other rooms are not worthy. For example, the private pool villa might not feature an ocean-front view, but will provide you with 100% privacy and seclusion.
The Best Gay Bars to Have Fun and Relax

Hua Hin has a very small LGBTQ+ population, with less than 5% of the population considered part of the community. Because of this, there are few gay bars in the neighbourhood and they're more frequented by tourists rather than locals. However, they are still comfy, cozy, and a good time, so you should check them out! Let's check out some of our favourites:
Red Indian
Red Indian is one of the first, and could be one of the last, gay bars in Hua Hin, within a walking distance from the center of the city. The bar is close to the town centre, the beach, and resorts in the area. The bar is popular with both tourists and locals due to the excellent service and fabulous music. It's located right across from a few karaoke bars if you want to have fun there. The bar is currently closed due to a switching of owners, but should be reopened soon!
New Guy Bar
New guy Bar is the gay bar in Hua Hin, with exceptionally friendly service, beer, pool tables, and WiFi. The bar is combined with an area on the top floor for massage services. The area is fairly empty throughout the week and weekends, allowing for a more chill night. The reason for this is because locals have trouble being gay with their more conservative Asian culture. However, the people there will be friendly to you even if you're gay, so you don't have to worry about that!
