Koh Phangan is a beautiful island located in the southeastern part of Thailand. It is particularly popular for its Full Moon Parties that take place every month at the Haad Rin Beach attracting among others many gay travellers from all over the world.
During the time of the Full Moon Parties the gay scene gets busier as the Bansabai district, which is a 3km long area packed with clubs and pubs, provides the best entertainment when it comes to ladyboys. The Full Moon Party takes place every month on fixed dates which have already been scheduled until 2018. Since it attracts thousands of people every month, there are numerous gay men as well.
There are not any exclusively gay beaches on the island, however, the majority of the beaches are gay-friendly. Some popular beaches are Bottle Beach, Salad Beach, Thong Nai Pan Yai Beach, Haad Yao Beach, and Mae Haad Beach.
There are currently two gay bars in Koh Phangan which are For You and Alcove. Gay-friendly bars in Koh Pha Ngan are The Secret Beach, Ku Club, Pirates Barm, Fubar, and My Friend's Bar.
The gay scene of Koh Phangan is not organised and there are only a few gay venues on the island, however, the majority of the local businesses are considered to be gay-friendly.
