Rhodes is one of the largest island of the Dodecanese and draws visitors from all over the world. The fertile lands of this place are ideal for citrus, wheat, grapes and olive groves. All the recipes of Rhodes include top quality ingredients that come from the local agriculture and production.

The cuisine of this island does not include only the Mediterranean cuisine. Any International dish can be found in this variety of restaurants and tavernas scattered around this destination. But it would be a shame if you did not taste the traditional flavours of the Greek cuisine

Either you are looking for something affordable and fast or a gastronomic experience, Rhodes has it all. Souvlaki and all kinds of fish dishes are the top choices when it comes to fast and budgetary food. Do not worry, everything you try is top quality and the prices are so low because all the ingredients are local and easy to find. Food Tips

Rhodes cuisine is as diverse as its architecture: Greek, Turkish, Arabic flavours are mixing in your mouth.

Matsi” is one of the most peculiar local dishes: a local pasta with chick peas and tahini sauce and tahini soup. Tahini is made of sesame, which is a rather vital ingredient for Rhodes food recipes.

The traditional sweet ‘melikouni’ (a kind of sesame bar with honey), as well as the famous 'pitaroudia' (delicious chickpea fritters), are two of the most popular local recipes.

You will fiund many restaurants in Rhodes but the most popular kind of eatery on the island are the tavernas. Greek tavernas are widely popular for their Mediterranean environment giving to the meals a more authentic Greek feeling.

Rhodes is known for its exceptional variety of grapes, with the most important ones being the Amorgianoand Athiri. The former variety produces red wines with spicy flavour and rose with a mild aroma and fruity taste. Athiri produces white wine with mild flavour and fruity taste as well as the popular brut sparkling wine.
